How to create new photo albums on iphone 4.

Hi once again. This post was initially going to be about Xmas present idea's but that can wait a few days, sorry Jess!

How many of you iphone users have been irritated by the camera roll and no extra photo albums? Well this grumpy old man has, so he spent some time on the interweb looking into how to do it.

Unfortunately it cannot be done solely on the iphone4 at the moment, hopefully there will be a fix in future firmware upgrades. However I have found a very easy way to set albums up. Many thanks to ilounge.com
for coming up with it.

All you need is your iphone, your PC or Mac and a working copy of iTunes. This instructional will be for a PC, Mac users should refer to their documentation.

1. Firstly go to your PC desktop, right click and create a new folder. Rename the folder to whatever you want. I renamed my folder "iphone 4 pics"

2. Open the new folder, right click and create more new folders inside it. Rename them to what you want to appear on the camera roll. I used categories like "people", "places", "animals" etc. You can always add further folders at a later date.

3. Now plug in your iphone to the PC and click "start", "my computer" and then whatever your iphone appears as. In my case it's "Andy Keeble's" iphone. Your PC should take you to the photo's on your iphone immediately.

4. Go through the camera roll photo's on your PC, copy and paste the photo's to the relevant folders you have created. DO NOT DELETE ANY PHOTO'S AT THIS POINT!

5. Open itunes and click on your Iphone under the "devices" tab on the left side of the screen.

6. At the top of this new screen is a list that starts with "summary"  and ends in "photo's". Click on photo's.

7. On the next screen put a tick in the "sync photo's from" box and do the same in the drop down box beneath.

8. In the scroll menu, highlight where your new folders are kept on your PC.

9. Click the sync button on the bottom right hand corner and wait until itunes has finished syncing your Iphone.

10. Go to the camera roll on your Iphone and you should now have neatly sorted pictures!

If you are happy you can go ahead and delete the photo's from the camera roll. Just remember you will have to manually sort any new pictures on your PC and then sync via iTunes.

I hope you find this a help and not too text heavy. I will be back later this week with some Xmas gift ideas and hopefully a review or two.

Andy
